Learning Log 8 23/08/2016




This week  I studied outside the classroom at Wadmai school. I did many activity for children such as played games , sang songs. The songs that we used in activity such as head shoulders knees and toes , elephant why are you so big? and If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands song all of song are enjoy. And I learnt about  informal contractions from
If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands song. There is informal contractions in this
song ,it is want to when I sang I had to sing wanna because "wanna" in English used in speaking.
For example in the song.

Another example
gimme = give me

gonna = going to
Nothing's gonna change my love for you.
I'm not gonna tell you.

I've gotta gun.

ain't = am not/are not/is notI ain't sure.You ain't my boss.


This is good experience for me because my friends and I planed all the activity , prepared the game and did every thing together. I was happy and enjoy in this day because we saw children were happy in their activities.

Learning Log 7 15/08/2016

This week I learnt about "False friend" its mean  words in two languages (or letters in two alphabets)[1] that look or sound similar, but differ significantly in meaning.For example "sexsy"
In Thai mean โป้ (การแต่งตัวที่ล่อแหลม)                                                            In English mean  เย้ายวน











My friends and I debate the homework about connotation word such as "friend" in Thai mean เพื่อนยาก มิตร สหาย  มิตรสหาย ความหมายแฝง คือ เพื่อนยาก ซึ่งจะให้กับเพื่อนที่ร่วมทุกข์ร่วมสุขกันมายาวนาน ผ่านร้อนผ่านหนาวมาด้วยกัน ซึ่งมีความหมายคล้าย สหาย เป็นต้น And subject in English have more meaning in Thai such as "I" in Thai mean ดิฉัน ฉัน ข้าพเจ้า กระหม่อม เป็นต้น
when we have finished homework.Teacher taught us about CALL.


CALL  : Computer-Assisted Language Learning
               (CALL) is often perceived, somewhat narrowly, as an approach to language teaching and learning in which the computer is used as an aid to the presentation, reinforcement and assessment of material to be learned, usually including a substantial interactive element.

CALL and Audiolingual method (listening and speaking) Programs entailed repetitive language drill
and can be referred to as drill as practice

After that,teacher told us about how to create CALL .First we have to prepare data .The second we have to design CALL .The third we have to plan in story board.

And we presented article about Applying Innovating Spirit to Multimedia Foreign Language Teaching.This article told about the application of the multimedia technology offers advance teaching methods.In conclusion they told experience and improve teaching methods constantly,multimedia will bring about more positive changes to foreign language teaching and therefore greater achievements will be made in our foreign language teaching.

Learning Log 6 (08/08/2016)

This  week I learnt about how to use AntConc.

First I learnt how to check number of vocabulary.
1) To open  all of your files and click word list.
     Look at word token,it is your number of your vocabulary.





The second I learnt how to see concordance
1)To open all of your files in the same way and click concordance.


After that I looked for 
Local grammar
-plural or singular noun
-verb or gerund

Style
-personification
-superlative
-passive voice

Content knowledge in my title(Chiawawa dog) form example acronyms.
AntConc is easy way to find vocabulary but you must analyse the data by yourself

Learning Log 5 (02/08/2016)

This week teacher taught in regular articles,Using Blogs in the Foreign Language Classroom:Encouraging Learner Independence  and teacher gave the question for every body and did in classroom.

Answer the following question

1.What is the purpose of this project?
>> This project aimed at motivating students to take advantage of authentic environment outside the classroom in order to practice language skill and communicate with others.

2.How was the data collected?
>>Data were collected from learners through questionnaires and interviews conducted at the end of the term.

3.What were the results of pre-project questionnaire?
>>No students had a blog prior to the class,and only two learner had any knowledge of blogs.

4.What were the results of post-project Questionnaire?
>>The students spent 30 minutes/week working on the project.Three learner spent between 10-15 minutes,and two spent more than one hour blogging each week.

5.What are the advantages of blog?
>> The students enjoyed using blogs in the classroom.Eight learners agree that they enjoyed interacting.Seven learners cited that they thought their writing skill and improved from participating in the project.Five learner told they learnt about new vocabulary and using it.In addition,the advantages of blog can practice your grammar and improve your thinking in English.

6.What are the disadvantages of blog?
>>The students told they were unable to understand the software that uploaded pictures onto their sites.

7.What are the suggestions to improve the project?
>> The author uncovered many comments that linked blogger with writing.
"...It is very difficult to write by English but we can progress by English writing ability by write blog."
"...When I wrote the blog, i think that oh,I have to study more words,because I can write sentence...writing sentence is not so difficult,but I don't know this...how to write English,I realized that I have to study more word" 

     After that teacher showed us the new program it is AntConc that is a program for analysing eletronic texts(that is,corpus linguistics). Before we use AntConc teacher told us for search the title that us like and data must more over 500,00 words. I searched for Chiwawa dog and I spent time to find this title for 4 hours

Learning Log 4 (25/07/2016)

  This week I were trained about  how to use Corpus Linguistics by Mr.kriangkrai Vathanalaoha.
What is corpus? Corpus was a collection of word and theory or methodology of  language and also a seek for the truth.
I learnt about historical of corpus ,it was created since 1897.It was around 19th-early 20th century. The first corpus wrote about child diaries.It had two cases that was The case for introspection and the case for empiricism.Then,he told about types of corpus.There were seven types of corpus.
     1.Special Corpus
     2.General Corpus
     3.Mutilingual Corpus
     4.Parallel Corpus
     5.Learner Corpus
     6.Historical or Diachronic Corpus
     7.Monitor Corpus

After he told historical and types ,he taught how to find sorting a concordance by http;//bncweb.lancs.ac.uk/

Moreover I did  the exercise by myself . I learnt observing hidden meaning in the exercise ,it was "in broad daylight" it mean bad news and "swanning around" it was negative.

In my opinion,Corpus is a good way for teacher student or worker because it can be reference for our data or teacher can design the exercise or test from this.In the same way corpus there are more benefit for who want to know about vocabulary and sentences etc.
